Essence Ventures has officially announced that Caroline Wanga has stepped down from her role as President and CEO. This news comes months after public criticism surrounding the 2024 Essence Festival. While she had been on health leave, many speculated that her future with the company was uncertain.
In an official statement, Sundial Technology & Media Group, the parent company of Essence Ventures, praised Wanga for her contributions. “We are profoundly grateful to Caroline for her leadership, vision, and unwavering advocacy of Black women and culture,” the statement read. It continued, “Caroline has left an indelible mark on Essence and beyond, and we celebrate the many ways she has amplified our mission and impact.”
Wanga’s tenure included bold programming moves and initiatives centered on elevating the voices of Black women across media, business, and entertainment.
