Around 30 bikini-clad influencers were stranded in the waters off Miami Beach on a yacht that eventually "flipped over" and sunk on Saturday (May 3).
"#Breaking #SAR A @USCG Sta #MiamiBeach crew & partner agencies responded to a 63-ft vessel taking on water near Monument Island rescuing 32 people w/no injuries reported around 5 p.m., Sat. Commercial salvage is working to recover the vessel & isn't a hazard to navigation," the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast wrote in a post shared on its X account, along with four photos from the scene.
The group was reported to be clueless about the situation, according to the New York Post. Social media footage showed the rescued women taking photos or videos of the sinking yacht from a distance after being brought to safety by the Coast Guard and a good Samaritan.
Former Miss American competitor Regan Hartley, who was among the people rescued, was seen in a video cradling a bottle of $350 Clase Azul Gold tequila as someone else shouted, "The baby is safe," according to the New York Post.
“No f–ks given,” an Instagram user commented on a post shared from the scene. “Everyone on the sinking yacht taking selfies.”
The accident took place near Florida's Star Island at around 5:00 p.m. as the yacht was nearly vertical when its 32 passengers and crew members moved to the deck. Several videos shared by Lauren Nicole, a model and stylist, showed the women in life vests standing on the top of the sinking 63-foot ship as they were being led onto a Coast Guard vessel.
Authorities hadn't publicly identified the owner of the yacht nor details about what led to it sinking.
