A 5.2-magnitude earthquake was reported in California on Monday (April 14), according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake was centered in Julian in San Diego County, at a depth of 13.4 kilometers (about eight miles). The USGS said it received 37 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.
At least seven aftershocks were reported immediately after the initial earthquake, CBS News reports. The earthquake was reported to be felt in Orange County, Temecula and the Inland Empire, as well as several other places in California on Monday.
It was not immediately clear if any injuries or damage was reported at the time of publication on Monday.
The California earthquake was reported hours after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake was reported south of the Fiji Islands on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 174 kilometers (about 108 miles).
The earthquake south of the Fiji Islands was reported hours after a 5.5-magnitude earthquake was reported in Burma (Myanmar) on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Meiktila at a depth of 7.7 kilometers (about 4.8 miles). The USGS said it received 20 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.
