Tyrese Gives All Credit to His Wife and Higher Power for Saving Him

Probably no one who reads blogs missed the fact that all last year Tyrese was a whole HEADLINE. He had quite a few public displays of dysfunction. Twitter seemed to be his refuge even though someone should've grabbed his phone. He was lashing out and acting up constantly on the social media platform. He was pontificating on things that weren't based on pure logic. It was more of a rash type of "just let me get this out type of thing". Well, we haven't missed the fact that he has calmed down tremendously. We all watched Tyrese go through what appeared to be a very public, cringeworthy breakdown in 2017. But now, nearly two years later, he seems to be in a much better place. While there were those who felt that his outbursts would have jeopardized his acting career, in 2019, he’s booked three films.

If you’re wondering who Tyrese credits for his comeback, it’s God and his wife. This is what he had to say about it:

“She’s prayed my out of my mess. This was the first movie I was able to book after everything I had to deal with personally. So, I came into this movie with a level of vulnerability that I probably couldn’t even tap into now, if I wanted to. I’m going to be as real as I know to be. I can’t say that I was on the receiving end of the beatdown and that some of it wasn’t self-inflicted. I’m grown enough to be responsible for the things I said and did and contributed to my mess. We had just gotten married. I pretty much checked off every box in the world to say to her, leave me. She stood by me through it all. We wasn’t married 7 years, 10 years and said we going through a storm, let’s hawk it out. We had just been married.

So, ultimately what I will say to anybody who is in it, you may not have your traumas to play out on public display—invite God in. God sometimes need permission to get in. There is no handsome, there is no relationship, there is no joke, there is no charm, no charisma, there is no resume that could have took me out of it. The Lord Jesus Christ gets all the credit for what he did. And I believe that sometimes we can become sacrificial lamb. Sometime if you are embarrassed publicly and God ends up turning it all around even more publicly—I’ve now shot three movies in one year.

Black and Blueis the first. Then I signed a three-picture deal with Marvel comics. We got the Teddy Pendergrass movie coming, directed by Lee Daniels. We got theFast 9movie that I just finished. Got a double album coming. My third book is coming, talking about everything. The level of favor that’s unapologetic that’s happening on full display. There’s some people that felt a way. Some people contributed to the mockery but there’s some real Black women that know me characteristically that helped pray me out of my mess. And I’m forever indebted. “

Good for him!!!!!
