Should You Be Financially Responsible For Your Family After You Make It?

Fat Joe did a recent podcast interview, on “I Am Athlete” and he said, people, need to be honest with themselves about their finances. “I tell my wife, I tell my kids, ‘We are not Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs or Jay-Z. Fat Joe, said there are levels to wealth. Also, former retired Miami Dolphins NFL player Channing Crowder talked about the “Black Tax” phenomenon. This is the idea that Black athletes are expected to financially take care of their families once they become successful. He talked about how after he was drafted, his family was like we made it! So Shirley asked Uncle Steve how he felt about the conversation on the podcast. He agreed that it was definitely true points Fat Joe and Crowder made.

Uncle Steve said," Black people are the only race of people who are responsible for one another." He recalled a conversation he had with actor, Mel Gibson who said he's not taking care of anyone, especially since he put in all the hard work. Carla chimed in saying, " It's not just athletes or entertainers when any Black person is deemed successful by their family, they're expected to take on all the financial problems."

Do you believe this to be true?
