Steve Harvey To McConnell: 'You Didn't Give Us Civil Rights. We Sat-In'

It's finally Juneteeth. A national time when African-Americans reflect on the greatest day of our history: the day slavery ended. It's also a time where the reparations discussion comes into play.

Debates about what we are currently owed for decades-long of ill treatment rise, but often fall on deaf ears. One person who made that very clear was Mitch McConnell.

Kentucky's Senior State Senator and Senate Majority Leader led a press conference yesterday addressing reparations and expressed his feelings about his ancestors' "sins" of rape, murder, theft, and dehumanization (which continued post-slavery) were wiped clean off America's conscious the moment President Barack Obama was elected.

"I don't think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago, for whom none of us currently living are responsible is a good idea. We've tried to deal with our original sin of slavery by fighting a civil war, by passing landmark civil rights legislation. We've elected an African-American president...We're always a work in progress in this country."

You know what SHOULD still be a work in progress? That speech. Of course, The Steve Harvey Morning Show had their own thoughts on the comment.

Junior shined a light on McConnell having his stance since he was a "beneficiary of slavery." Meanwhile, Our Fearless Leader, Steve Harvey, acknowledged the fights and consequences black people faced to earn the civil rights, McConnell made seem happened over night and said:

"You didn't give us civil rights. We sat-in. We marched. We protested for civil rights. And we died. And then, you have the nerve to vote on the Voter's Rights Act every other damn year to see if you're still gonna allow us to vote."

He also challenged the senator's statement that seem to imply Obama's presidency was a gift given to us.

"And then the last ignorant statement, 'We elected an African-American-' 'We' ain't elect no damn body. I promise you yo ass did not vote for him, pull for him, and did nothing but try to destroy him."
