Tekashi 6ix9ine Is Praised By Prosecutors — Feds Urge A Lighter Sentence

It's safe to say, Tekashi 6ix9ine has the legal system on his side these days.

According to TMZ, federal prosecutors have officially asked the judge in the 23-year-old rapper's federal case for a much lighter sentence for 6ix9ine, given his cooperation.

In legal docs, obtained by the outlet, the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York cited his "incredibly significant and extremely useful" assistance in prosecuting and convicting two members of the Nine Trey Bloods — Anthony "Harv" Ellison and Aljermiah Mack — as one of the reasons he should be given a reduced sentence.

The feds also acknowledged that Tekashi's scrupulous testimony in open court put a target on his back and endangered his family. "There's no question that the defendant's life will never be the same because of his cooperation in this case," prosecutors explained, adding that 6ix9ine's family will need "extra safety precautions" at all times to avoid a revenge attack.

Prosecutors additionally noted that Tekashi's testimony was what "convinced the jury" in Harv and Aljermiah's case, TMZ reports.

As fans know, Tekashi, who is currently facing a 47-year prison sentence, took the stand in a Manhattan federal court in September and not only named names — he alleged that Jim Jones, Cardi B, Trippie Redd, and many more artists are all gang affiliated— he also revealed his role in Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and previously unknown details about the gang's activity in hopes of getting a shorter sentence. And given the fed's recent request for him to have just that, it looks like Tekashi's snitching got him exactly what he wanted — a chance at less time, or maybe none at all, behind bars.

Tekashi is set to face a judge on December 18.
